On January 12th 2018, Emerging Leaders from throughout LA County (ages18-26) gathered for Day 2 of the Cannabis Summit "Thriving in Changing Times" presented by the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health, to learn about and discuss how cannabis impacts individuals, families, and communities . The objective of the day was to have honest and informative conversations about cannabis and to create and launch a campaign to educate youth, young adults, and the community about policy changes and public health impacts related to cannabis. The purpose of this educational campaign is to share important information to help mitigate potential harms of recreational marijuana use, promote health equity, and social justice for all communities. Together, summit participants named and kicked off #PutItBLUNTly , a hashtag and educational campaign.
The summit day was kicked off with opening remarks by Dr. Barbara Ferrer, Director of the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health and a powerful keynote address by Maggie Steele, a facilitator from Community Prevention Initiative, who started and ended her presentation with song and drumming. For the rest of the afternoon, participants attended workshop sessions to learn new hands-on skills to develop messaging and content for this educational campaign, including this website!

Attendees also participated in an interactive information gathering activity using Mentimeter, which allows participants to answer questions related on a mobile phone, share their thoughts, and view feedback from others in the room.
